Soon after that her talent was recognised by Sangeet Research Academy, Calcutta, a famous music institute run by a multinational Business house. At this Institute, Chandra has been trained under the able guidence of Maestro Pandit A. Kanan and Bidushi Smt. Malabika Kanan. Chandra has given Kheyal and Thumri (semi classical) a touch of her joyous vibrant personality, which has created a style distinctly of her own. Currently, Chandra is exploring Banaras Gharana's Semi Classical music under the guidance of Padmabhushan Smt Girija Devi.


Chandra was selected by ICCR and moved to Johannesburg as the teacher of Indian music at the Indian Consulate. Chandra started performing all over Africa which includes the major cities like Durban, Cape Town, Port Elezabeth, the Sun city Superbowl, and even remote villages at Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Later on, Chandra joined the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa as a Lecturer of Music in History and Society. She is the founder of three music schools in Johannesburg where students are still continuing to learn under some of Chandra's advanced students. Under Chandra's guidance, a group of 30 African students performed Indian Classical Music in the presence of Dr. Nelson Mandela.


This young and extremely talented vocalist came to UK in 2000 Oct and immediately created a sensation with her exceptionally melodies voice and wonderful stage personality. She has represented the Indian Consulate of London in Ireland, Sweden and Denmark. Presently Chandra is performing all over UK and Europe under the banner of well known organizers. In addition to her regular performance , teaching and music workshops, Chandra works full time as the Manager of one of the London's busiest libraries.
