Gharana
My musical roots lie in the profound traditions of the Kirana and Banaras gharanas. From Kirana, I absorbed the meditative exploration of swara, the purity of tone and the slow, deliberate unfolding of a raga. From Banaras, I inherited the emotive strength of thumri, the lyrical fluidity, and the deep connection between music, poetry and human emotion.
Yet, while these gharanas shaped my foundation, I never confined my music within the boundaries of any one style. I believe a gharana is not a cage, but a beginning, a sacred discipline that enables the artist to eventually find their own voice. My music travels beyond strict gharana identities, embracing poetry, improvisation, global collaborations and the living spirit of creativity.
I carry my lineage with pride, but I let my music breathe freely, rooted in tradition, yet open to the world..
